These clothes have been offered mother in the late 1970ies, then living in East-Berlin, by her aunt, then working for the Red Cross in Bavaria, who was originally from the eastern part of Germany, too. She moved to West-Germany, leaving her daughter behind, who did later flee by swimming through the Werra river. The clothes have travelled via a third person whom my aunt met briefly during World War II and who could cross the border freely because of her age.
